STIR has confirmed Gretchen Barretto’s “You and Me Against the World” on TV5 will close after its Feb.15 broadcast! It looks like nobody’s safe at TV5, not the short-term CEO, not the owner’s long-time domestic partner!

The truth about the resignation of former TV5 CEO Chris Sy is now coming out. Chris was pointed to a corner and had no recourse but to resign. The network’s Malaysian investors put extreme pressure on him, blaming him for TV5’s failure to reach quota. For 2008, TV5 managed to make only a little less than 20% of quota. No replacement for Chris as TV5 CEO has been appointed. The buzz is he’ll be made a consultant. Business writers say that’s a graceful exit spin. Their logic is how can he be made a consultant when he has no solid record to bank on.
